To change the sport, start a new game.
At the limit, the other team is in the bonus.
For playoffs: each team gets a try in turn, from the 5-yard line (1 point) or the 10-yard line (2 points), until one team leads after the same number of tries. Only the winning team's points from the last round are added to its score.
Playing time (rec leagues): when the clock reaches 0, the point in progress is played out, then the game ends; a tie stands.
To change it, start a new game.
Soft: after the point in progress, the game goes to the higher score plus 1. Hard: the game ends after the point in progress, with a universe point if tied.
Counted on the cap clock. After the point in progress, if no team has reached halftime, it comes at the higher score plus 1.
At halftime, the board waits for "Resume play". A hard cap reached during the break ends the game, unless tied (universe point).
Then each ratio lasts two points (ABBA). "Flip the ratio" changes the next point only.
The team in end zone A picks the ratio on each point of the first half, the team in end zone B in the second half. Teams switch ends after every point.
Then the team that scores pulls; the second half starts with a pull by the team that received first. In mixed, the puller matches the majority on the line.
At 0, the game ends after the end in play; if tied, an extra end is played.
Each batter starts at this count; slo-pitch often uses 1-1.
The game ends when a team leads by this many runs once that inning is played, or as soon as the home team reaches it at bat.
Side-out: only the serving side scores. Rally scoring: every rally scores a point.
2 in a game to 11 or 15, 3 in a game to 21.
1: a game without sets.
Tied one point below the cap, the next point wins the game.
By sport: ball hockey, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, indoor soccer, ultimate, flag football, curling, softball, darts, badminton, table tennis
What the scoreboard tracks for darts
In darts, each side starts from 501 and counts down to 0; the big numbers show what it has left. After each visit of three darts, type its total, 0 to 180, then "OK": the scoreboard takes it off and passes the throw to the other side, marked "To throw". A total three darts cannot make, such as 179, is refused.
With double out, ticked to start, the leg ends on a double, the bullseye counting as a double. A visit that goes past what is left, leaves 1 or finishes without a double is a bust: the score goes back to where it was and the other side throws.
When a visit makes exactly what is left, the scoreboard asks how many darts it took, and whether the last one was in a double. That feeds the averages shown under each side: per 3 darts to start, or per dart.
The game is first to 3 legs; add sets in "Game settings" for a longer match. The first thrower alternates every leg and every set. Two players or two teams: tap the names to change them. Playing 301 with no double? Change the start and untick double out.
The match on the bar screen, the visits on your phone
On the big screen (a TV, a laptop or a tablet), open the scoreboard and select "TV + phone remote".
On your phone, scan the QR code on the screen, or go to notreligue.ca/code and type the 5-character code.
Your phone becomes the remote: every action shows on the big screen within about a second.
The screen and the phone need internet, through the venue's Wi-Fi or a cell phone's hotspot. Nothing to download and no sign-up.
At each visit, you type the total on your phone; the big screen counts it down, calls busts and shows whose throw it is, where everyone around the board can see it. If the network drops, the score updates when the connection is back.
Frequently asked questions
Does the scoreboard know when it is a bust?
Yes. If the visit goes past what is left, leaves 1 point or, with double out, finishes without a double, the scoreboard says so, puts the score back and moves to the next side. The visit still counts its 3 darts in the average.
How is the average worked out?
It is the total points divided by the darts thrown, times 3 for the 3-dart average, the usual one. For a checkout, the scoreboard counts the darts you tell it, 1, 2 or 3.
Can the darts score show on a TV in the bar?
Yes. On the TV, or a laptop plugged into it, select "TV + phone remote": what each side has left, the player to throw and the legs fill the screen, and you type the visits on your phone.
Do I type the visits on my phone?
Yes. On the remote, the points field and the "OK" button are on the main screen, with the phone's number pad. Each visit shows on the screen within about a second, as long as both devices are online.
