Game settings
To change the sport, start a new game.
At the limit, the other team is in the bonus.
For playoffs: each team gets a try in turn, from the 5-yard line (1 point) or the 10-yard line (2 points), until one team leads after the same number of tries. Only the winning team's points from the last round are added to its score.
Playing time (rec leagues): when the clock reaches 0, the point in progress is played out, then the game ends; a tie stands.
To change it, start a new game.
Soft: after the point in progress, the game goes to the higher score plus 1. Hard: the game ends after the point in progress, with a universe point if tied.
Counted on the cap clock. After the point in progress, if no team has reached halftime, it comes at the higher score plus 1.
At halftime, the board waits for "Resume play". A hard cap reached during the break ends the game, unless tied (universe point).
Then each ratio lasts two points (ABBA). "Flip the ratio" changes the next point only.
The team in end zone A picks the ratio on each point of the first half, the team in end zone B in the second half. Teams switch ends after every point.
Then the team that scores pulls; the second half starts with a pull by the team that received first. In mixed, the puller matches the majority on the line.
At 0, the game ends after the end in play; if tied, an extra end is played.
Each batter starts at this count; slo-pitch often uses 1-1.
The game ends when a team leads by this many runs once that inning is played, or as soon as the home team reaches it at bat.
Side-out: only the serving side scores. Rally scoring: every rally scores a point.
2 in a game to 11 or 15, 3 in a game to 21.
1: a game without sets.
Tied one point below the cap, the next point wins the game.

What the scoreboard tracks for softball
In softball and slo-pitch alike, the game is 7 innings. The visitors bat in the top of each inning and the home team in the bottom; "At bat" shows under the team hitting, and only its +1 counts. Each run goes into the column of the inning in play, under the big numbers.
The big "Out" button lights a dot for each out. On the third, the half-inning ends and the other team comes to bat. In the last inning, the game stops if the home team leads after the visitors' half, or as soon as it takes the lead; if tied, an extra inning begins.
Tick "Track the count (balls and strikes)" to get "Ball", "Strike", "Foul ball" and "Next batter". Each batter starts at 1-1, as in Softball Canada's slo-pitch rules, and that starting count can be changed. Four balls are a walk; the third strike, or a foul ball with 2 strikes, an out.
Does your league cap runs per inning? Tick the limit, 5 to start: the half-inning ends as soon as it is reached, and the last inning stays open. The mercy rule (15 runs after 5 innings) and counting hits and errors are offered too, all editable in "Game settings".
The screen at the diamond, the remote in your pocket
On the big screen (a TV, a laptop or a tablet), open the scoreboard and select "TV + phone remote".
On your phone, scan the QR code on the screen, or go to notreligue.ca/code and type the 5-character code.
Your phone becomes the remote: every action shows on the big screen within about a second.
For the screen, a tablet or a laptop will do, on the park's Wi-Fi or a cell phone's hotspot; your phone is the remote. No app needed and no sign-up.
Between pitches, one tap adds an out or a run, and the screen shows the inning, the outs and the count to everyone. If the connection falters, the score comes back as soon as it does.
Frequently asked questions
Does the scoreboard switch half-innings by itself?
Yes. On the third out, the half-inning ends: the count starts over and the other team comes to bat. If you tapped "Out" once too often, "Undo" steps back.
Can the count start at 1-1 for slo-pitch?
Yes, that is the starting count when you tick "Track the count": 1 ball and 1 strike, as in Softball Canada's slo-pitch rules. For fastpitch, set it to 0-0 in "Game settings".
Can the score by inning show on a screen at the field?
Yes. On a tablet, a laptop or a TV, select "TV + phone remote": the runs by inning, the outs and the team at bat fill the screen, and you enter them from your phone, from the bench.
Does the remote work at a field without Wi-Fi?
Yes, with a phone's hotspot: the screen and the remote only need to be online. On the phone, "Out" and the +1 of the team at bat stay on the main screen, within thumb reach.
