Game settings
To change the sport, start a new game.
At the limit, the other team is in the bonus.
For playoffs: each team gets a try in turn, from the 5-yard line (1 point) or the 10-yard line (2 points), until one team leads after the same number of tries. Only the winning team's points from the last round are added to its score.
Playing time (rec leagues): when the clock reaches 0, the point in progress is played out, then the game ends; a tie stands.
To change it, start a new game.
Soft: after the point in progress, the game goes to the higher score plus 1. Hard: the game ends after the point in progress, with a universe point if tied.
Counted on the cap clock. After the point in progress, if no team has reached halftime, it comes at the higher score plus 1.
At halftime, the board waits for "Resume play". A hard cap reached during the break ends the game, unless tied (universe point).
Then each ratio lasts two points (ABBA). "Flip the ratio" changes the next point only.
The team in end zone A picks the ratio on each point of the first half, the team in end zone B in the second half. Teams switch ends after every point.
Then the team that scores pulls; the second half starts with a pull by the team that received first. In mixed, the puller matches the majority on the line.
At 0, the game ends after the end in play; if tied, an extra end is played.
Each batter starts at this count; slo-pitch often uses 1-1.
The game ends when a team leads by this many runs once that inning is played, or as soon as the home team reaches it at bat.
Side-out: only the serving side scores. Rally scoring: every rally scores a point.
2 in a game to 11 or 15, 3 in a game to 21.
1: a game without sets.
Tied one point below the cap, the next point wins the game.
By sport: ball hockey, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, indoor soccer, ultimate, flag football, curling, softball, darts, badminton, table tennis
What the scoreboard tracks for curling
In curling, only one team scores in an end: the team with the stone closest to the button, 1 to 8 points. Tap +1 under that team for each stone that counts; the number shows in the column of the end in play, then "Record the end" adds it to the total. No stone counts? Tap "Blank end".
The scoreboard follows the hammer, the last stone of the end. After an end where a team scores, it goes to the other team; after a blank end, it stays put. "Switch the hammer" fixes a mistake, and "Undo" goes back to the end before.
A game is 8 ends to start. Many rec leagues play 6: change "Number of ends" in "Game settings". If it is tied after the last end, an extra end is added, then another if needed, until one team takes the lead.
The team that is behind can concede: the button with its name ends the game, and the summary says so. Is the sheet booked for two hours? Tick "Game timer"; when it reaches 0, the game ends with the end in play.
The score on the club TV, your phone on the ice
On the big screen (a TV, a laptop or a tablet), open the scoreboard and select "TV + phone remote".
On your phone, scan the QR code on the screen, or go to notreligue.ca/code and type the 5-character code.
Your phone becomes the remote: every action shows on the big screen within about a second.
Both devices have to be online: the club's Wi-Fi or your cell phone's hotspot. No app to install, no account.
After each end, you count the stones on your phone and record the end; the TV shows the grid of ends and the team with the hammer, where players in the lounge can see it. If the network cuts out, the score comes back on the screen as soon as it returns.
Frequently asked questions
Who has the hammer in the first end?
The team you pick in "Hammer in the first end", often decided by a coin toss. After that, the scoreboard gives it to the team that did not score, and leaves it in place after a blank end.
Does the scoreboard show the score end by end?
Yes. A grid gives each team's points in every end, with the column of the end in play and the total on the right. Extra ends are added as +1, +2 columns.
Can the grid of ends show on the club TV?
Yes. On the lounge TV, or a laptop plugged into it, select "TV + phone remote": the totals, the hammer and the grid of ends fill the screen, and you record each end from your phone.
Can I keep score from the ice?
Yes, with your phone as the remote: +1 counts the stones and "Record the end" sends the end to the screen within about a second. The phone and the screen need internet, through the club's Wi-Fi or a hotspot.
