Game settings
To change the sport, start a new game.
Then set the half length to your league's: 25 to 45 minutes outdoors.
The dek format also sets 1 and 2 minute penalties. Then set the period length to your centre's.
The clock runs through stoppages; at 0, the board moves on to the next period by itself, clock paused.
The "Woman's goal +2" button is added under each team. The last 3 minutes: those of the last period and of overtime.
At the limit, the other team is in the bonus.
A timeout always stops the clock. Whistles: a team or personal foul, and a basket in the last 2 minutes of the last quarter (or half) and of overtime. For anything else, tap "Pause".
After each touchdown, the "Convert" line shows under the clock, with its buttons and "Missed". +1 made, −1 missed: for a 7-point touchdown followed by a try.
For playoffs: each team gets a try in turn, from the 5-yard line (1 point) or the 10-yard line (2 points), until one team leads after the same number of tries. Only the winning team's points from the last round are added to its score.
Then the team that goes first switches every round.
In these rounds, only the try from the 10-yard line (2 points) is offered. NFL FLAG's rule: from round 3.
PEPS scale: 5 points to the set's winner; the team that loses gets 4 with 24 points or more, 3 with 21 to 23, 2 with 15 to 20, 1 with 9 to 14 and 0 under 9. The total shows on the final score card.
Playing time (rec leagues): when the clock reaches 0, the point in progress is played out, then the game ends; a tie stands.
To change it, start a new game.
Soft: after the point in progress, the game goes to the higher score plus 1. Hard: the game ends after the point in progress, with a universe point if tied.
Counted on the cap clock. After the point in progress, if no team has reached halftime, it comes at the higher score plus 1.
At halftime, the board waits for "Resume play". A hard cap reached during the break ends the game, unless tied (universe point).
Then each ratio lasts two points (ABBA). "Flip the ratio" changes the next point only.
The team in end zone A picks the ratio on each point of the first half, the team in end zone B in the second half. Teams switch ends after every point.
Then the team that scores pulls; the second half starts with a pull by the team that received first. In mixed, the puller matches the majority on the line.
At 0, the game ends after the end in play; if tied, an extra end is played.
Each batter starts at this count; slo-pitch often uses 1-1.
The game ends when a team leads by this many runs once that inning is played, or as soon as the home team reaches it at bat.
Side-out: only the serving side scores. Rally scoring: every rally scores a point.
2 in a game to 11 or 15, 3 in a game to 21.
1: a game without sets.
Tied one point below the cap, the next point wins the game.
By sport: ball hockey, ice hockey, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, indoor soccer, ultimate, flag football, curling, softball, baseball, darts, badminton, table tennis
What the scoreboard tracks for baseball
A baseball game starts at 9 innings, anywhere from 1 to 12 if you like. The visitors open each inning at bat, the home team closes it, and +1 only works for the team hitting. The grid under the score keeps the runs of every inning; hits and errors join it when you count them.
Three outs close the half-inning: tap "Out" for each one and the two dots light up in turn. If the home team leads after the visitors' 9th, the bottom half is not played and an X takes its place. A home team's winning run ends the game on the spot; when tied, extra innings are added as +1, +2.
The count is optional: with "Track the count (balls and strikes)", each batter starts at 0-0, four balls give a walk and the third strike is an out. In baseball a foul ball with 2 strikes puts nobody out; if your league plays it otherwise, tick "Foul ball with 2 strikes: out".
The mercy rule is off to start; turned on, it ends the game at a 10-run lead after 7 innings, both numbers yours to change. A run limit per inning is there too, though baseball rarely uses one. Everything is set in "Game settings".
The scorer on the bench, the score on the big screen
On the big screen (a TV, a laptop or a tablet), open the scoreboard and select "TV + phone remote".
On your phone, scan the QR code on the screen, or go to notreligue.ca/code and type the 5-character code.
Your phone becomes the remote: every action shows on the big screen within about a second.
Put a tablet or a laptop on the ballpark's network, or on a cell phone's hotspot, and select "TV + phone remote": your phone becomes the controller.
From the dugout, every out and every run reaches the screen in about a second, with the inning, the team at bat and the count. A dropped connection loses nothing: the score settles back in when it returns.
Frequently asked questions
Does the scoreboard know when a 9-inning game is over?
Yes. It stops as soon as the home team leads after the visitors' half of the 9th, or on the home team's winning run. When tied, it adds an extra inning and the grid marks it +1.
Can we play 7 innings instead of 9?
Yes. Change "Number of innings" in "Game settings", from 1 to 12. Many adult leagues play 7 innings for lack of field time, and the grid follows that number.
Can fans see the inning grid on a TV?
Yes. Open the scoreboard on the TV, or on a laptop plugged into it, and select "TV + phone remote": the runs by inning, the outs and the count fill the screen in display mode.
Do I need an app for the baseball remote?
No. On your phone, type the code shown on the screen, with no account and no app. "Out", the +1 of the team at bat and, if you track the count, "Ball" and "Strike" stay on the main screen.
