What the scoreboard tracks for ball hockey
Three 15 minute periods, a countdown clock and a horn at the end of each period: that is where ball hockey and dek hockey start. A goal is +1 under the team that scored; a goal given by mistake comes off with −1 or "Undo".
Add 2 and 5 minute penalties under each team, several at a time. They run only while the clock runs, carry into the next period and clear by themselves when they end; the × removes one. Each team has a timeout counter, and a shot counter shows up if you tick "Count shots".
Your league plays two 20 minute periods? Change the number of periods and their length in "Game settings", along with the 5 minute overtime. If regulation ends tied, "If tied" picks what comes next: "Ask me" (two buttons), "Overtime" or "Tie". No golden goal: overtime ends with its clock, or when you tap "End game".
A period starting late? With the clock paused, tap it to type the time left, or adjust by a minute with −1 min and +1 min: penalties already running keep their time. If you reload the page, the game is waiting in your browser, clock included.
Frequently asked questions
Do penalties carry into the next period?
Yes. A penalty only runs while the clock runs. If it has 0:30 left at the end of a period, it picks up when you start the clock of the next one. It clears by itself when its time is up.
Can I play 12 or 20 minute periods?
Yes. In "Game settings", change the number of periods (1 to 9) and their length (1 to 60 minutes). For a period that starts late, tap the paused clock and enter the time left.
What happens if the game is tied at the end?
It depends on "If tied": "Ask me" shows two buttons, "Overtime" and "End (tie)"; "Overtime" sets up a 5 minute overtime (you can change it); "Tie" ends the game tied.
Does it work for dek hockey?
Yes. It is the same preset: score, clock, 2 and 5 minute penalties and timeouts. Set the period length to your league's.
